Programs
With the help of our supporters, CUMAC operates an impressive array of programs that serve as a social safety net within the community of Paterson and beyond. In addition to our food depot and pantry, for which we are most well known, our Community Closet provides disaster relief to victims of flood, fire and domestic abuse and supports a Thrift Store where community members who are on the path to self sufficiency can shop for necessities at a very low cost.
CUMAC's Pathways to Work program gives struggling community members the opportunity to receive job training and achieve employment.
Place of Promise, CUMAC's newest endeavour, is a permanent supportive housing program which endeavors to serve men and women with disabilities who are chronically homeless.
Keeping with the tradition of the Emergency Food Coalition, CUMAC has formed the Community Food Coalition (CFC), a collection of over 25 pantries and agencies committed to serving those in need in Passaic County and surrounding areas. Under CUMAC’s leadership, the CFC addresses hunger-related issues and manages shared food resources for Passaic county, while connecting New Jersey residents with feeding programs that will best fit their needs.
Throughout the years, our seasonal projects have offered ways for our friends and partners to help the surrounding community. School supply drives, our annual Holiday Wish List program and Easter basket drives have helped countless Paterson children and their families. Events like the Souper Bowl have helped to create hunger awareness.
