Paterson anti-hunger group celebrates 30 years of giving food to needy
February 2015: It was more than three decades ago that a Paterson school teacher decided to do something to help students whose families did not have enough to eat. The teacher, Hugh Dunlop, asked his church congregation to donate food for the students. Report: 25 Percent of New Jersey Residents Living in Poverty
September 2013: A new report claims one-quarter of New Jerseyans are living in poverty. The study released Sunday by the Legal Services of New Jersey Poverty Research Institute concludes that more than two million people in New Jersey are struggling to meet their basic needs. Their numbers have increased since the beginning of the economic recession by more than 300,000. The poorest county is Passaic, followed by Cumberland, Essex and Hudson, according to the report. Columbia Bank Raises $40K for CUMAC food bank
September 2013: Columbia Bank is pleased to announce that its 25th Annual Charity Golf Classic at High Mountain Country Club in Franklin Lakes raised $40,000 for the benefit of the Center of United Methodist Aid in the Community (CUMAC) food bank.
